Easter letter from Grandma Lael, 2011
Dear loved ones,
We are so happy you are going to have a cute little girl! And hope all is going well for you. Be sure to keep us posted! Ezra will go to Frankfurt German mission. Hyrum is marrying "Alyssa" in June at New Port temple. Cheyanne's in Arizona this summer with Hyrum and Heber selling for them. Esther will go there in June to help Cheyenne with her 2 cute little girls. Katy is expecting soon and naming her Lillian Marie Ballestero. She will graduate BYU-Idaho too! I am going to call her Lily, because I like them (lilies) and it is OK with them. Tyler will graduate May High School, also Brandon. He just got Eagle Scout. Michelle expecting boy in July. Weston _? Williamson. Grandpa likes that name. We hope you feeling good and happy. I love you so much and am thankful for your blessing!

Happy Valentine's Day from Grandma Lael
Hello! Have a great "romantic" day! We are celebrating Grandpa's 80th birthday on Saturday. Anita is coming for the week-end. We hope things and work are going OK for both of you. Our winter was fairly cold- but now warming up. Grandpa doesn't go to his shop until 9am or after- so I sit and read scriptures until he finishes his sleep= otherwise my noises of putting things away wakes him up! Cheyenne and Jennifer both expecting in July- Sept. Ezra Peterson got accepted to USAFA= like Christopher! It sure helps to pay for schooling. Hyrum has another 9 months on Seattle mission. Matt Harris and Alyssa Feller graduated December from BYU-Idaho. Matt and Cheyenne bought a fix-up house in Burley. Did I ever give you pillow cases made by my mother Elsie?

Letter from Grandma Lael
Dear Andrea and Jeff,
Happy Anniversary! "Late!" I just withdrew some IRA money (we have to) = so here's some extra help for you- Things can only get better! Notice stamps- In 1954 after we moved to Caldwell, I so wanted a car with fins! I had a maroon/pink Dodge picked out; But no money. There will be bad and good times and we still live!
I had to include this because I love the last line. That's good advice for life right there.

Letter from Grandma Lael
Dear Andrea,
Thinking a lot about you and hoping you have a wonderful day! I'm sure you're busy with everything, and I know you helped your mom so much with the wedding. She is so lucky to have you close. She told me about the flowers- I know you're a professional design now! I am having catarac surgery on my left eye on September 4th. I can't read anything with it. We had some good company from many of our family this summer. DeAnn's girls and husbands took me to the Twin Falls ID temple open house. It was lovely. I have some wonderful cherry tomatoes coming= They are so sweet. I planted a lot of 10 year old seeds and got a few beans and corn. Lots of beets and some nastursians and zinnias. I guess Anita got Kaysville closed and west Jordan one at end of September. She is busy teaching now. You are lucky to have an Aunt Anita- let her know that!

Happy Easter from Grandma Lael
Happy Easter! And thanks for your letter! I'm glad you are enjoying your calling and job is OK- just a "nice monster client"! Experience to learn in your life of how to get over it. You've probably learned to say "except for unforeseen conditions" a lot of times now. I took greenback $ once to enclose with flowers to send. Later he came in and claimed they didn't get the $!! So the flower shop got a new rule: No sending money with flowers. I'm glad you got a car! What kind and most important to me= What color?? So I've found and lost again the timeline, and appreiate the offer to update it. Right now I'm still sorting through boxes and trying to throw memories away or get them into categories- I hate to throw out all my cute primary and R.S. things. But they are so old fashioned and out of date, it's pathetic! I also have lots of gardening to do. Lots of willow branches to pick up. Hopefully Lori and her boys will help with that when they come for Easter and one week. Sean too busy to come. Anita doesn't have spring break until 2 more weeks. But we'll have a family get-together for whoever comes. Hope you have a wonderful Easter too!

Bown Master Bath Tilework
Dear Jeff and Andrea,
Thank you so much for coming and "helping" us put in tile! It looks so amazing, and I can't even believe how much I love it. We totally owe you guys so much! Thanks again.

Editors Note (1/28/15) I believe this was late in 2006, after we'd left BYU-Idaho for North Carolina. Brooke was probably about 2 years old, Josh not born yet. Julie convinced us to take a trip to Boise to help them with their master bathroom. Jeff had some experience doing tile so gladly we agreed. Julie bought our tickets! It was a great reason for Julie to spend the money and an even better reason for us to go out there for free! Besides, we loved little Brooke, at the time one of our two nieces. I remember about this trip;
Julie loved their home in Boise. It was a one-level contemporary stucco style, gray or tan? in color, with a large fenced in backyard and huge garage (2-car plus a 1-car where Ruston kept his motorcycle). It was a 3-bedroom, 2 bathroom home but the rooms were absolutely spacious. A living room, dining room, eat in kitchen open to the family room (which was huge). They also kept 3 chickens in the backyard which was eye-opening to me. People keep chickens and not on a farm? Turns out she was ahead of the curve on that one, now owning chickens is a popular fad. Their chickens eventually met an untimely death, with their heads mysteriously disappearing (the body left intact). I don't think they ever figured out what the problem was but the chickens are gone now. I also remembered her funny story about the night at dinner when Brooke made the connection after her parents telling her they were eating chicken. "Chick-y? MY chick-y?" After assuring her that it was not HER chick-y, she happily continued eating. I laughed so hard. We spent some time playing Mario Kart on the Wii, one of our favorite games at the time. Julie made some amazing chile rellenos, the first time I had eaten any, yup she converted me. I wish we had taken more photos, but I didn't have a camera phone then, and was still taking pictures with an old non-digital camera. I probably didn't even take it on that trip. The tiling job itself required little from me. They had already picked out the tile so I advised them to put it on a diagonal and that's about it. Jeff did all the hard work, laying it out and cutting it to size. They even put in radiant floor heat with a floor mat. I must admit, it looked fantastic when it was all done! I hope we saved them some money even after the plane tickets.
